The Cape Town Wine Route (CWR) represents all Cape Town produced wines: white & red, flat or bubbly, shallow or deep, humble or rich, unprententious or flashy, entry-level or extraordinary. The point is to present every manners of form and taste from all sub-terroirs, for all PALATES & all POCKETS. THE JUDGE IS YOU We offer Cape Cheeses & Wines Tasting Presentations on request. The CWR brand & logo is inspired by the original VOC acronym logo, from the Dutch Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (United East Indies Company, or Dutch East India Company 1602-1796). Until its demise the VOC was the largest trading company of its kind in the world, trading in spices and teas and later silks and Chinese and Japanese porcelain. The 'comptoir' of the Cape of Good Hope was an unavoidable replenishing station for the ships on route to & from the East, who needed - among other things, drinking water, fruits, cheese, meats and...wine & spirit, loaded as crucial cargo. This has been Cape Town's 'raison d'être'. The CWR acronym is thus pitted against the original Batavian colours making it instantly recognisable to wine lovers, keen on this part of world history.EMAIL: CWR@cheeseandwine.co.za ~ CONTACT: 073 613 2561
